One of the few taco places around that still does fresh salsa bar with pico de gallo. Their corn quesadillas are the perfect kid size; don't skip the shrimp taco. The chicken and rice entree is a generous portion and good flavor!

Best Al Pastor Taco and Burritos ever. I can't find any place that makes it as good as El Matate.

Awesome staff - awesome food. Get there early, cause a line forms at about 11:45 for lunch.

Craving Mexican food and found this place on Yelp with good reviews. It was packed! Cars waiting in line to park. Tables were packed with ppl waiting. Food was delicious! Had a Super Burrito, too much to eat. Saved half for later. Yelp reviews were correct. Will definitely be back..

Right off the 101 Freeway in Belmont, my wife and I literally ran into this place as it's right off the freeway. We saw a big line out front and a lot of cars parked around the building so we figured that it would be a pretty good spot to eat based on the crowd. I'm glad that we did give this place a try as it was very good.
I have the two Carne Asada tacos with beans and rice. The tacos were delicious as the meat was marinated with seasoning and the topics plus the hot sauce were good. I wish the meat was juicier, but overall it was good. The beans were excellent. It was very flavorful and tasted very good. The rice was nice, warm, soft and had nice flavor to it.
My wife had a three tacos plate, that consisted of Carnitas, and chicken. She said the Carnitas were pretty good however the chicken was just OK. Next time she'll just stick with Carnitas. She also had some chips and salsa that you can get yourself from a self-service bar. Overall, she liked her meal as well.
The only thing bad about this place was that the bathrooms were dirty, and parking in the area is very limited and tough to find especially during dinner time. It's my recommendation that it's best to go when it's off peak dining hours.
